Context of School
Propps Hall is a Junior, Infant and Nursery School with 40 part time nursery places situated in the Failsworth West ward within Oldham. The school is stable with very little mobility. The percentage of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals is 36 %. Failsworth West remains within the 20% most deprived wards in England. Indices of Deprivation show that we are in the top 30% of deprivation nationally. Since the last inspection, unemployed has risen by 56.8%. A very small proportion of our parents have experienced higher education compared to those nationally (Failsworth West 7.7%, England 19.2%).
Propps Hall School is federated with Springhead Infant and Nursery School, this soft federation has been in place for 1 year and 2 terms. I was asked to be Executive Head teacher of Springhead Infant School after it had been placed in the category of Requires Improvement by Ofsted, prior to this the school was graded as Outstanding. Springhead Infants is a large 3 form entry Infant School with an 80 place nursery.
